You talk, Jay answers
Everything in Jay happens in conversation. Kids speak their answers and their questions, and Jay replies out loud, so even kids who are just learning to read can play on their own.
Jay is a companion for kids that you talk to, and that talks back. Kids race the clock in spoken math games, practice their math facts, and ask Jay for a story, all by voice, with no reading or typing required.

Spoken math games where kids race against time, and against each other. Say the answer before time runs out.
Math facts asked and answered out loud, the way kids drill them with a parent or teacher.
When math time is over, just ask. Jay tells stories made for young listeners.
Content and pacing built for kids from kindergarten through fifth grade.
What kids say is used to form Jay’s reply and is not kept. Races send only a nickname and answers, kept in memory for the race only. No ads, no accounts. The details are in the privacy policy.
The best way to meet Jay is to hear a kid play. These are Jay’s two App Store previews from 2017: on iPhone, then on iPad. Turn the sound on: Jay is meant to be heard.

Liquid Thought released Jay on the App Store in March 2017, long before talking to a computer was something kids, or most adults, did every day. The idea was simple: young kids talk before they read, so a learning companion for them should be something you talk to. Jay listened, understood, and answered out loud, turning math practice into a game and story time into a conversation.
